The New York Small Business Development Center is pleased to recognize the boldest, brightest, and best small companies and enterprising individuals in New York State.  Eight small business owners were honored at the 2017 Client Awards ceremony on April 24, 2017.  Read all their stores here.  J. Ben Primicias has been in the school supply business for a long time. He opened his first store with the assistance of the Watertown SBDC in 1991, selling a variety of educational items for teachers and parents. In 1996 Ben returned to the SBDC for assistance in buying property and building a structure with more room for inventory. The expansion required that he add new employees. Most of Ben’s in-store business is from local teachers, schools and parents, but his catalog has generated sales from across the country and overseas and account for nearly half his total sales. Small Business Success Story -Medical Gas Technology

Each year the New York Small Business Development Center recognizes outstanding small businesses in a variety of ways.  This Success Story from the  Watertown SBDC  appears in our  2015 Annual Report .  David Farrell Medical Gas Technology Watertown SBDC David Farrell was working with a private contractor doing work on Ft. Drum when he learned that the contractor had lost his contract. Meanwhile, his friend Bryan Benson, was working part-time with a local company, Medical Gas Technologies, Inc. (MGT), that services, tests and performs maintenance on medical gas and vacuum systems. The market for the company’s services includes hospitals, doctors’ offices and even veterinary clinics. MGT’s owner wanted to retire, and Bryan needed a partner to help purchase, operate and expand the business.  David entered the NYS Department of Labor Self Employment Assistance Program to retain his unemployment benefits and attended the Watertown SBDC’s seven-week Entrepreneurial Training co

NYS SBDC Manufacturer of the Year: Vincent Lobdell of Health Way Home Products

From the Watertown/Oswego SBDC Vince Lobdell, President of HealthWay Home Products, Inc. has received the award of NYS SBDC Manufacturer of the Year. Mr. Lobdell formed HealthWay Home Products Inc. in October 2004 after 30 years of experience in the air purification industry. HealthWay, located in Pulaski, New York, is a manufacturer of patented low energy medical-grade indoor air filtration equipment. The Company holds many US and International patents on Enhanced Germicidal Filtration (EGF) technology as well as multiple product design patents. The Company also holds patents on air quality diagnostic equipment and auto-control sensing devices for indoor air quality machines. HealthWay manufactures products for both residential consumers and commercial institutions. Tests administered at the University of New York at Buffalo prove these devices to be 100% effective at capturing viruses, bacteria, molds and fungi from the air. SBA Recognizes Top National Small Business Counseling Partners

WASHINGTON – The Orange County Calif. SCORE Chapter, a New Mexico Women’s Business Center, and a New York Small Business Development Center received national awards today for their outstanding service and assistance to entrepreneurs in their communities. These outstanding resource partners were recognized during a National Small Business Week award event in Washington, D.C., taking place May 23-25. The event, sponsored by Northrop Grumman, also highlighted lender awards from the U.S. Small Business Administration. ‘During national small business week we honor those who stand beside and support small businesses as they create jobs,” said SBA Administrator Karen G.
